REALLY GOOD WINE IS THE INTERACTION OF HUMAN AND NATURE
Drinking wine can be so beautiful. It is even more beautiful to make it. It's process of human and nature. Nature gives our grapes the breeding ground, the weather determines the vegetation and the topography has an influence on the wine style. But only the human factor, through craftsmanship and deliberate action, manages to produce authentic wines that are pure drinking pleasure without stumbling over unnecessary corners and edges.

We are of the opinion that enjoying wine should be uncomplicated. However, it makes perfect sense to provide some orientation. Therefore we divide our wines into three levels. The fruity, varietal classic wines create the solid basis. Our characterful single vineyard wines from our best vineyard sites can be found on top. The lable "EXPLOSIV" is only given to wines with a particularly diverse and intense aroma.
HOME OF SCHEUREBE
Unserer größten Aufmerksamkeit schenken wir ganz klar der Rebsorte Sämling (auch Scheurebe gennant). Der Sämling war schon der Lieblingswein unseres Großvaters. Auch für uns hat diese Rebsorte mit einen Flächenanteil von 35% einen besonders hohen Stellenwert. Und das nicht nur weil wir die größten Erfolge mit diesem Wein feiern durften (steirischer Landessieger, Sieger internationaler Scheurebepreis etc.) sondern weil er für uns der Inbegriff eines typisch steirischen Weines ist. Fruchtig, aromatisch, trinkfreudig und immer mit einer gewissen Leichtigkeit und Finesse. Bereits 4 verschiedene Weine entpuppen sich bei uns aus dieser Rebsorte, jeder für sich ein Unikat!
THE VOLCANO
LANDMARK OF THE REGION AND SOIL FOR OUR VINES
The Tieschner Königsberg, an extinct volcano, rises unmistakably above our region. When we see him, we know this is our home. Our vines are also significantly influenced by its existence. The volcanic soils give the wines a distinctive flavor and full-bodied character. Away from the volcanic soils, primarily sand and lime deposits provide a distinctive aromatic wine style.

Ich bin Mario und bin der Weinbauer vom Hopfer - und das aus Überzeugung! Schon sehr früh wurde mir bewusst, dass meine Zukunft und Passion im Weinbau liegt. Meine Herangehensweise bei der Vinifizierung ist stets bedacht, sorgfältig und fokussiert. Meine Weine sollen anspruchsvoll sein, aber niemals überfordern. Im Vordergrund steht immer das Trinkvergnügen. Mein Anspruch ist, das Beste aus jedem Jahrgang herauszuholen - kompromisslos und konsequent.

The bird tree
It was particularly important to us to create an appearance that was authentic for us. A label that not only stands for the content of the bottle, but also for the people behind it and the winery as a whole. Many small details lovingly combine these values and form a magnificent and expressive icon.

Mein Name ist Hannes und bin der Grafik- und Webdesigner vom Hopfer. Vom Weinetikett, zur Speisekarte bis hin zur Website - alles aus einer Feder. Beigebracht habe ich mir das alles selbst. Zufrieden mit meiner Arbeit bin ich meist nur kurz, zu hoch sind meine Ansprüche an mich selbst. Ein Manko? Ich finde nicht! Dieser stete Drang, mich und meine Arbeit ständig voranzutreiben, zu verbessern, treibt mich tagtäglich an. Ich liebe meinen Job!
