Information about the grape variety
In 1922 from its namesake Professor Fritz Zweigelt out Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent when crossed, it is considered the most successful and most widely cultivated red wine variety in Austria. The variety is suitable everywhere in Austria Soil and location conditions, but requires intensive foliage work and yield regulation. At high maturity, full-bodied and long-lived wines are created that are fruity and well-cared for despite everything Tannins shine.
