Information about the grape variety
The Pinot Blanc is a natural mutation from Pinot Gris and thus the youngest member of the Burgundy family. France is assumed to be the origin. Here the variety is also called "Pinot Blanc". The word "pin" translates into French as "pine" because the shape of the grape resembles a pine cone. Today the Pinot Blanc is widespread internationally. It places high demands on the soil and location. The grapes are very compact and cylindrical. The maturity is medium to late.
