Welschriesling Wie Damals Ried Patzenberg 2021
A wine vinified like in grandfather's time. The highly ripe grapes come from vines, some of which are over 50 years old, from our best locations. Fermentation takes place spontaneously, ie without added yeast in oak barrels. The wine itself shines with juicy fruit of ripe pomaceous fruit, an elegant acidic structure and a silky texture.

What is "spontaneous" fermentation?
With spontaneous fermentation, no additional yeasts are included in the alcoholic fermentation. Fermentation also takes longer because there are fewer yeast bacteria available. The yeast comes from the vineyard itself and settles on the berry skins of the grapes. During the pressing process, these yeasts then get into the grape must. The spontaneous fermentation creates very independent aromas that make every wine unmistakable.
Information about the grape variety:
The top 2 cultivated grape variety in Styria with over 800 hectares. Can cover almost all quality levels - from basic sparkling wine to dry classic wine to ice wine. But high-quality single-site wines are also increasingly establishing themselves from the Welschriesling. The variety ripens very late and therefore needs warm, well-ventilated locations with a good supply of magnesium.
